                            Hearty Potato Soup

   6                    Potatoes -- Peeled and Cubed
2 Medium Onions -- Diced
2 Carrots -- Thinly Sliced
2 Celery Ribs -- Thinly Sliced
2 Cans (14 1/2 oz) Chicken Broth
1 Teaspoon Dried Basil
1 Teaspoon Salt
1/2 Teaspoon Pepper
1/4 Cup All-Purpose flour
1 1/2 Cups Half and Half
Fresh Celery Leaves -- Garnish
Combine first 8 ingredients in a 4 1/2 quart slow cooker.
Cook, covered, at HIGH 3 hours or until vegetables are tender.
Stir together flour and half-and-half; stir into soup. Cover and cook 30
minutes or until thoroughly heated. If desired, garnish with celery
leaves or parsley.

1 1/2 Teaspoons Poultry Seasoning
1 Teaspoon Dried Rosemary
1 Teaspoon Dried Marjoram
1 Teaspoon Dried Basil
1 Teaspoon Dried Parsley
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
1/8 Teaspoon Pepper
Combine all ingredients; store mixture in an airtight container.
sprinkle on fish, poultry, or pork before grilling.

   2      tablespoons   butter
1 cup sliced celery
1 medium onion -- coarsely chopped
2 tablespoons flour
1/4 teaspoon thyme
1/8 teaspoon white pepper
2 1/2 cups milk
3 large potatoes -- in 1/2" cubes
6 slices bacon -- cooked/crumbled
1 8 oz. pkg. imitation crab flakes or chunks
Melt butter in Dutch oven over Medium heat. Stir in sliced celery and
onion. Cook, stirring until tender. Stir in flour, thyme and white pepper.
Gradually add milk, stirring constantly. Add potatoes. Bring to a boil and
simmer for 15 minutes or until potatoes are tender. Stir occasionally. Add
bacon and crab and just heat lightly.
Serves 4.

NOTES : Serve with bowls of mini pretzels, crackers or even popcorn. Can
top with thin strips of julienned zucchini or carrots.
Bobbie's Notes: The original recipe called for only 1 1/2 cup milk. I added
almost 1 cup more milk. It had cooked down a bit and was still very thick.
This was delicious using Imitation Lobster.
